Writing
Choose the writer, length, headlines, photos and tags, and fine-tune tone, quotes and words to avoid.
In your site's Settings, the Writing card has:
- Writer, on plans with more than one: Standard writer (quick and plain), Advanced writer (richer writing) or Premium writer (our best writing).
- Length: Short (about 200 words), Standard (about 350 words) or Long (about 550 words). Articles from a thin source come out shorter: Sudwire never pads them.
- Headlines: Sentence case or Title Case.
- Photos: which photos may be used (see Photos).
- Add tags to articles: up to five tags, like places, institutions and subjects.
| Plan | Writers |
|---|---|
| Starter | Standard writer |
| Pro | Advanced writer, Standard writer |
| Agency | Premium writer, Advanced writer, Standard writer |
Advanced
- Exact length, in words: between 100 and 1,000. Leave it empty to use Short, Standard or Long.
- Tone: Neutral (plain news), Warm (community feel) or Formal (restrained).
- Longest headline, in characters: from 40 to 140 (100 to start with).
- Measurements: As the source, Metric or Imperial.
- Quote officials when the source has quotes (on to start with). Turned off, what people said is paraphrased and attributed.
- Subheadings in longer articles and Bullet lists for key facts (both on to start with).
- Words to avoid: like shocking, slammed, tragic. Separate them with commas, up to 20.
House style, on Pro, Agency and Enterprise, is on the Coverage and priorities card. Changes apply to new drafts.
