Which stories
Choose how important a story must be before Sudwire writes it, and fine-tune timing and topics.
Every new item from your sources gets a score from 0 to 10 for how much your readers need it, based on what your site covers and your priorities:
| Score | Stories |
|---|---|
| 8 to 10 | A major story for your area: serious accidents, emergencies, arrests in serious cases, major decisions, closures, big investments, severe weather warnings. |
| 5 to 7 | Solid news people in your area care about: public works, schools, health services, safety, money, transport, notable court results, and any concrete incident in your area, even a small one. |
| 0 to 4 | Routine or promotional material, old news, or anything outside your area. |
In your site's Settings, on the Publishing card, Which stories sets the lowest score Sudwire writes:
- More stories: 4 and up (smaller ones too).
- Balanced: 5 and up (recommended).
- Big ones only: 7 and up (fewer).
More stories brings more drafts to review, small items too, like road closures and meeting notices. With Big ones only, some days there may be none.
Advanced
- Importance needed: the exact lowest score, from 1 to 10.
- Skip stories older than: in hours, from 6 to 96 (36 to start with). Older items from your sources are ignored.
- Minutes between articles: from 0 to 240. Empty spreads the day's articles evenly, and a long gap means fewer a day.
- Writing hours: from and until, in your site's local time. Stories found outside them wait. Run now ignores them.
- Always cover: topics scored at least 7 when they happen in your area, like road closures or school news.
- Never cover: topics scored 0, like sport or lottery results.
Separate topics with commas, up to 20 of each.
