Getting started
What Sudwire does
Sudwire watches official sources for your area, picks the stories that matter and writes drafts into WordPress or Ghost for your editors.
Sudwire Newsroom watches the official bodies that publish news about your area: police, fire and ambulance, councils, government departments, courts, health authorities, transport and other agencies. It reads their websites, feeds, news pages, YouTube channels and social accounts, picks the stories your readers need and writes each one up as a draft for your editors.
How it works
- Sudwire checks your sources for new items: every 30 minutes on Starter, 10 minutes on Pro and 5 minutes on Agency.
- Each new item gets a score from 0 to 10 for how much your readers need it, based on what your site covers and your priorities. Items about a story you already have are dropped.
- The best stories are written, most important first, up to your articles a day. Each article is written in your site's language, with a photo when there's one Sudwire may use, and credits the source.
- The drafts go to your site. On WordPress they arrive as posts pending review, and on Ghost as drafts. An editor checks each one against the source and publishes it.
What it never does
- It never rewrites other newsrooms' stories. Another outlet's feed can only be a story lead for your editors.
- It never publishes a sensitive story without an editor, even with automatic publishing on.
- It never copies the source's wording: drafts that do are rewritten or dropped (see Originality checks).
Drafts are written with AI from official sources and can still get something wrong. That's why every article waits for an editor unless you choose otherwise, and why readers see a short label saying how it was written.
