Story leads
Follow other news outlets for tips: their important stories show up as leads to follow up, and are never rewritten.
Story leads are on Pro, Agency and Enterprise. You can follow another outlet's feed as a lead only source. When it reports something important for your readers, the story appears on your site's Leads tab, for an editor to follow up with the official source. Sudwire never writes articles from another newsroom's work.
Add a lead source
- Open your site, go to Sources and open Add a website or feed yourself.
- Paste the outlet's feed or news page.
- Tick This is another news outlet (lead only) and press Check and add.
Scout adds news outlets it finds as lead only, too.
How leads work
- Leads are scored like any other story, with your coverage and priorities. Only stories that reach your Which stories setting become leads.
- The Leads tab shows the latest 40, each linked to the outlet's story. The number next to the tab counts the last 7 days.
- Leads are kept for 60 days.
- Leads don't count toward your articles a day.
On a plan without story leads, lead-only sources are still listed but their stories are skipped.
