Drafts and publishing
Review drafts in WordPress
Find Sudwire drafts in WordPress, check them against the source, then publish or bin them.
- Open Newsroom in your WordPress admin. The number next to it is how many drafts are waiting. You can also open Posts and choose Newsroom: to review.
- Open a draft. The Sudwire Newsroom box beside the editor links to the original announcement and notes anything worth checking.
- Check it against the source, and change anything you like: the headline, the text, the photo.
- Publish it (or schedule it) to approve it. Move it to the Bin to reject it.
Publishing counts as your approval and is recorded under your WordPress display name. Sudwire also notes whether the text was edited, and your dashboard shows each decision.
Who can review
The Newsroom screen is for WordPress users who can edit other people's posts, such as Editors and Administrators. The plugin's settings are for Administrators.
What each draft has
- A featured photo, copied into your Media Library with its credit as the caption (or your default photo).
- A category for its section, if you file articles by section (see the plugin settings in Connect WordPress).
- Tags, an excerpt, and a credit line at the end for the source and the photo.
- YouTube videos from the source, embedded.
- The AI label readers see once it's published.
When drafts arrive late
The plugin collects drafts every five minutes using WordPress's scheduled tasks, which only run when someone visits the site. On a quiet site, or if DISABLE_WP_CRON is set, add a real cron job that runs every five minutes, for example:
*/5 * * * * curl -s https://yoursite.com/wp-cron.php > /dev/null
You can also press Check now on the Newsroom screen at any time.
