Drafts and publishing
Originality checks
Every draft is checked for wording copied from the source, and drafts that copy too much are rewritten or dropped.
Each draft is written in its own words and structure. Short quotes from officials, in quotation marks and attributed, are fine.
The copy-overlap rule
- Sudwire compares the draft with the source and counts how many of the draft's 8-word phrases also appear in the source.
- If more than 15% do, the draft is written again, fully in new words.
- If the new draft is still above 15%, the story is dropped.
Your dashboard shows the share for every article as Wording reused from the source, under Before publishing on the article's page.
Other checks
- Stories about an event your site already has a headline for in the last 48 hours are dropped as duplicates.
- Announcements too thin, out of date, purely administrative or promotional to make a story are skipped.
- Drafts that come out too short or unfinished are never sent.
