Troubleshooting
Key used on another site
A connection key only works on the site it belongs to, and here is what to do when it turns up on another WordPress.
Once your site is confirmed, its key only works from that site's address. If another WordPress uses it:
- That WordPress shows: “This connection key belongs to yoursite.com. Connect this WordPress with its own key.” It gets no drafts.
- Your site's WordPress card shows in red: “This key was also used on othersite.com. Replace it if that isn’t yours.”
The www and bare addresses, and a staging copy on the same domain (like staging.yoursite.com), count as the same site and keep working.
What to do
- If the other site isn't yours, replace the key: on the WordPress card open Replace the connection key and press Replace key, then press Connect with Sudwire in your own WordPress (or paste the new key). The old key stops working at once.
- If the other site is yours, it's a different site: add it on your dashboard and connect it with its own key. Your plan needs room for it (see Plan limits).
A key set up by someone who left
If the key was set up by a team member who has since left, the WordPress card says so. Replace the key to make sure only your WordPress uses it. When you remove a member, you can disconnect the keys they set up straight away (see Team members and roles).
