Getting started

Your first drafts

When drafts start, where they arrive, and how to follow what Sudwire is doing on the Today page.

A site switches itself on once it has everything it needs:

  • at least one source turned on,
  • WordPress or Ghost connected, and your site confirmed,
  • a running free trial or plan.

Until then the Today page lists what's left under Get your site running. Once the site is On, drafts arrive as soon as your sources publish something worth a story. Official sources publish less at weekends and on holidays, so a quiet first day is normal.

Where drafts arrive

  • WordPress: under Newsroom, and in Posts as pending (see Review drafts in WordPress).
  • Ghost: in Posts as drafts with the internal tag #sudwire (see Review drafts in Ghost).
  • Your dashboard: the Drafts tab lists every draft, with filters for Waiting, In WordPress (or In Ghost) and Needs an editor.

We email you when your first draft is ready. After that, a drafts email lists new drafts waiting for an editor, at most once a day per site, from 08:00 in your site's time zone (see Emails we send).

The Today page

  • Articles today: drafts written in the last 24 hours, out of your daily limit.
  • Waiting for review: drafts not yet collected by WordPress or Ghost.
  • Sources working: sources checked and answering.
  • Last check: when your sources were last read.
  • Activity: what each check found, like "2 drafts written".

Run now checks your sources straight away and can write a few drafts at once, without waiting for your writing hours or the gap between articles. It still counts toward your articles a day, and needs two minutes between runs.

Pause a site

To stop drafts for a while, press Pause on the Today page or on the Site card in Settings. Nothing is written until you press Turn on. Editors and the account owner can do this.

Analytics

The Analytics tab shows what Sudwire wrote, what your editors published, which sources lead to stories and, on WordPress, what readers read. Pick 7, 30 or 90 days.
