Add your site
Add the news website Sudwire writes for, and how Sudwire confirms that you run it.
- Sign in with your work email. If you're new, the emailed link creates your account.
- On your dashboard, enter your site's address under Website address, for example
yournewspaper.com. - Press Add site. Sudwire opens your site to read its name and to see whether it runs WordPress or Ghost.
- Next, Scout helps you find your sources.
The site's name comes from the site itself. To change it, press Rename next to the name, or change Site name in Settings.
Pressing Connect with Sudwire in the WordPress plugin adds the site for you as well (see Connect WordPress).
Which addresses work
- The address of a news website you run, with or without
https://. A site in a folder, likeexample.com/news, works too. - Not an IP address, a port number or a local test address.
- Not a social network, video site, link shortener, link page or archive, and not the bare address of a blog host like medium.com or ghost.io. Your own site on one of them, like
yourpaper.ghost.io, is fine. - The site has to exist and answer. Adding the same site twice opens the one you already have.
How many sites you can add depends on your plan. Before a plan starts, you can add 1 site.
If the address isn't accepted

Confirming you run the site
Drafts only start once Sudwire has confirmed that you run the site, so nobody can add a newspaper that isn't theirs. This happens by itself when you connect:
- WordPress: the plugin answers a check on your site's own address. It runs within a few minutes of connecting, and again every week.
- Ghost: your Admin API key works at your site's own address (yoursite.com/ghost).
Until then, the Today page says why the last check failed. See Site not confirmed.
Remove a site
The account owner can remove a site: open it, go to Settings and press Remove this site on the Site card. Its sources and drafts are deleted, and posts already in WordPress or Ghost stay. Drafts it wrote in the last 24 hours still count toward your articles a day.
